For our 2019 Spring Social, 38 people and 23 DeLoreans made the journey to Ramsey, NJ! The sun was warm, and so was the welcome we received from Matt Maisano at Motorcar Manor--special thanks to him for helping us organize this year’s event.
Not everybody gets to spend their Saturday morning at a manor, but this was the weekend our attendants had the chance. Tech services took place in the same facility that housed dozens upon dozens of exotic, muscle and sports cars for winter storage. Not to mention a good chunk of the local McLaren dealer's inventory and one of the last DeLoreans ever built (VIN #20102).
We sipped on Dunkin' Donuts coffee and caught up with old friends after a cold (but mostly snowless) winter. All the while, Marc Levy and Tom Sweeney of Tom's Garage graciously provided our members with inspections and door adjustments. James Espey and Sarah Heasty from DMCH were also in attendance, providing a few pro tips to those who had questions about their cars.
Out in the parking lot, some members spied a local NJ DeLorean for sale. Although many pieces had been removed and disassembled, the car was essentially all there. It found a new home the next day.
In the afternoon, lunch was catered by Badland Tacos as members and guests joined in on our raffle and annual officer elections. Kevin Abato was re-elected as vice president and Mike Paine was welcomed as our new activities director, with Derrin Ruschell greatly thanked for his years of volunteer time as the outgoing officer.
Members headed for Shannon Rose Irish Pub in the evening to hear our guest speaker, Fred Dellis of Legend Industries discuss his time working with John DeLorean. Those who were able to stay for dinner listened to tales of Fred’s involvement in the research and development of the DMC Turbo.
